As an eclectic therapist, I draw from a variety of theoretical orientations and treatment approaches. However, there are some that create the foundation of my approach to this work, explained here.

  • Attachment therapy in adults focuses on establishing and repairing secure attachment relationships, vital for personal growth and well-being. Through talk therapy, experiential techniques, and mindfulness, I guide clients in exploring their attachment experiences, identifying limiting patterns, and building secure bonds. The therapeutic relationship becomes a tool for healing, allowing individuals to explore wounds, express emotions, and experience safety. The goal is personal transformation, cultivating self-compassion, enhancing resilience, and developing healthier relationships. Applying these skills in daily life creates fulfillment and satisfaction.

  • This is a client-centered approach that: focuses on growth and self-actualization; views each person as unique and capable of achieving full potential; emphasizes the present moment and explores feelings, thoughts, and experiences in a supportive environment; builds a caring and understanding relationship; encourages openness and honesty without judgment; provides unconditional support and respect for personal growth; helps individuals reach their full potential by exploring values, beliefs, and goals; identifies strengths and talents for a meaningful life.

  • In contemporary psychotherapy, the use of neuroscience has become increasingly prevalent and influential. By integrating findings from neuroscience, therapists aim to better understand the neurobiological underpinnings of mental health issues, which can inform more targeted and effective treatment interventions. This approach allows therapists to explain to clients how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected with brain function. Furthermore, by utilizing techniques such as neurofeedback, mindfulness, and brain-based interventions, therapists can help clients regulate their emotions, manage stress, and enhance their overall well-being.

  • CBT, DBT, and ACT are three widely used therapeutic approaches in the field of psychology. CBT stands for cognitive behavioral therapy and focuses on exploring and modifying the connection between one's thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. This approach aims to help individuals identify and challenge negative or irrational thoughts and develop healthier thought patterns and coping strategies. By actively working on changing thoughts, CBT helps alleviate symptoms of various mental health conditions. DBT, which stands for dialectical behavior therapy, is particularly effective for individuals struggling with emotional regulation and difficulties in interpersonal relationships. This approach combines elements of cognitive behavioral therapies with techniques from mindfulness and acceptance practices. DBT aims to help individuals identify, accept, and change harmful behaviors, while also teaching effective communication and emotional regulation skills. ACT, which stands for acceptance and commitment therapy, is a mindfulness-based approach that encourages individuals to practice creating a more meaningful life while accepting the difficulties that come along with it. ACT focuses on the concept of psychological flexibility and helps individuals understand and accept their thoughts and emotions without judgment. It aims to help individuals identify their core values and commit to actions that align with these values, even in the presence of discomfort or difficult emotions. Overall, while CBT focuses on challenging and changing thoughts and behaviors, DBT combines cognitive and behavioral techniques with mindfulness practices, and ACT emphasizes acceptance and values-based actions. These therapeutic approaches offer diverse tools and strategies to address a range of mental health concerns and improve overall well-being.

  • Mind-body therapy links mental and physical health, addressing thoughts, behaviors, and emotions' impact on overall well-being. It also explores how past traumas can affect physical and emotional experiences. This therapy benefits conditions like chronic pain, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and sleep disorders. It's a natural complement to medical and psychological treatments, fostering self-awareness and deep healing for optimal health and happiness.

  • In therapy, mindfulness is an effective tool for promoting mental well-being. It involves being aware and accepting of the present moment without judgment or attachment. Integrating mindfulness into therapy sessions helps clients connect with their experiences, increase self-compassion, and gain control over their lives. This approach empowers individuals to observe and accept their thoughts and emotions, fostering resilience. Mindfulness in therapy emphasizes grounding in the present, allowing for a conscious response to difficulties. By cultivating mindfulness, individuals gain clarity and personal empowerment.

  • Kink affirming therapy is an approach that recognizes and affirms the wide range of human sexual desires, including those related to kink, BDSM (bondage/discipline, dominance/submission, sadism/masochism), and fetish-related preferences. This therapy provides a safe and supportive environment for clients to explore and discuss their kink-related interests and concerns. This approach seeks to reduce shame, stigma, and misconceptions often associated with kink, as well as to challenge societal norms that pathologize or judge alternative sexual practices. Kink affirming therapy helps clients negotiate consensual relationships, clarify boundaries, and develop tools to communicate effectively with partners. It aims at enhancing emotional and physical well-being while promoting healthy, safe, and mutually satisfying kink-related experiences.

  • Polyamory affirming therapy supports nonmonogamous relationships, guiding clients in navigating emotions, setting boundaries, and improving communication. Prioritizing emotional well-being and promoting responsible practices to help individuals and couples build fulfilling relationships with multiple partners. This approach challenges societal stigma, promoting understanding and acceptance of nonmonogamy. Ultimately, it is an inclusive and client-centered approach that supports individuals and couples in their journey toward healthy nonmonogamous relationships, fostering personal growth and respectful connections.

  • Sex positive therapy is an approach that acknowledges, honors, and supports all aspects of an individual's sexuality. It seeks to create a nonjudgmental and inclusive space for clients to explore and discuss their sexual desires, experiences, and concerns without shame or stigma. Sex positive therapy aims to promote a healthy sense of self-awareness, self-acceptance, and empowerment regarding one's sexual identity, preferences, and behaviors. It focuses on fostering open communication, consent, and sexual well-being, while challenging societal norms and assumptions that may limit an individual's sexual expression or satisfaction.
